When we are young, we all have dreams about what we want to be when we get older. Some want to be Policemen, others, Firemen, some Doctors and even Lawyers… I have to say that I had those dreams as well. I am a Third Generation Machinist, that followed in the footsteps of my father and grandfather before him. I have always been intrigued by how things worked. At the age of 10, I started learning the skills of the trade. How to use machines and tools in the proper fashion to accomplish what the end results had to be was just part of the task. Learning “Why” we did things a certain way, instead of taking a short cut (which would be less work) was taught early on and the answer was “to get the end results we needed to have. As an example, we had to polish aluminum plates that were used in the foundry process to make parts. Sand was packed on each side of these plates. When separated from the plates, the sand had the impression or void caused by whatever was mounted on the plate. Imagine pressing clay around a toy car, then pulling it off. If you filled that void with something solid, the result should look like the toy car that was used.
Like I mentioned before, the plates had to be smooth so that the sand used wouldn’t “Stick” to the surface of the Aluminum. If it did stick, it would crumble when it was pulled off the plate and the result would be a nasty imperfection in the finished product. The process of smoothing started with using air tools to take off the major rough stuff and burrs, then to hand sanding with 80 grit sandpaper, then 100 grit… 150 grit… 220 grit and so on. (The higher the number, the finer the sandpaper) The “trick” in sanding is to remove ALL the marks left by the previous used sandpaper. If any of the marks were left, and you moved on to a finer grit paper, it would Highlight the previous sanding marks and make the imperfections stand out even more. The only way to fix the issue would be to start over with the correct grit sandpaper. Sometimes my fingers would get so tender that it hurt to sand, but the lesson was learned.
Now that you have had a “Sanding 101” lesson, what does this have to do with my Journey? Glad you asked!
In this Journey, there are certain tasks that need to be done, as we all know. Knowing how to accomplish these tasks, do them correctly, and in the right order, will lead to success…
Doing these Tasks in the wrong order, and the results… Well… let’s just say “Less Than Desirable!”
At the age of 56, I learn new things every day. What I do with the things I learn; determines the outcome I will see in the future. (Harper teaches me more than you could ever imagine!)
As the title of my post suggests, I want to be a Postmaster when I grow up… Or should I say POST – Master. Blogging is something that I never pictured myself doing. I honestly get excited now about sharing with others through this blog. Helping others to learn the process and avoid the mistakes that I have made in the past as well as the present. Dean has created a fantastic program with Internet Profits. He continues to raise the bar with tools like the Affiliate System. His coaching is driven by his motivation to help and see others reach their Goals and discover their Dreams!
Warning – You can have the Best coach in the world, but if your intentions are to sit on the bench and watch others carry you through to a championship, this is not your game. Hard work and dedication are a start. Following the proven process that Dean has created is the plan. The work must be done by us to succeed.
I listen to Glen as he talks about Blogs, How to write them, How to blog hop, even on How to write post and How to engage with your visitors… He is a TRUE POST MASTER! I’m in the process of learning, figuring out what to say and how to say it. Following his advice will keep me pointed in the right direction, but I MUST put in the work to make it happen. Put me in Coach, I’m ready to PLAY!
I may be 56, but I still want to be a POST MASTER when I grow up! 😁
Hi David,
You made a good point about doing things in the right order.
One mistake many affiliate marketers made is they consume way too much information, which causes them to become confused and do things in the wrong order.
I made the same mistakes too. I wish when I was starting out, there were someone to tell me that.
Thanks Alan, I agree ! When I was starting I was downloading everything I could and trying to run it as an established business instead of one that needed to be built from the ground up. Like biulding a house on the dirt instead of a foundation… things started getting shakey pretty darn quick…
