What do you do when it seems the time you had to work on your business has disappeared?
YOU CONTINUE…
As most of you know, I have two full time jobs and working on this Online business as well. The process was 6am to 2:30pm “Machine Shop”, 2:30pm-9:00pm or so “Locksmith”, and any time I could find to squeeze in for the Online Business had to be found afterwards or somehow in between my two primary jobs which at the present time, pay the bills.
When you add in the time I get to spend with Harper, if she happens to be at the house when I get home… Well… that becomes my PRIORITY. I would be missing out on the very reason I started this business if I chose to not spend time with Harper if it was available… Right?
What happens if a wrench gets thrown into your plans and things change?
Due to increased orders at the Machine Shop, we have now gone back on overtime… We added 2 hours a day to our shift and even plan on some Saturdays if needed. The outlook for the next several months looks to be the same. Just this little change has a ripple effect like throwing a small rock into a pond. Taking another two hours away from your day in which you plan to work on your online business, can be devastating at the least, depending on how you approach your situation and view your situation.
What do I do now? Where will I find the Time to work on our online business?
I must admit that those little thoughts of “I’m not sure what I’m going to do” start to form in the back of my mind… When they do, it starts to ripple through the rest of your tasks. Now the key makes that I could do at 7:00pm are now pushed off to 9:00pm… you have to put more effort into rearranging your schedule of when certain jobs can be done… Prioritize the ones you can do earlier, ones you have access to after the businesses are closed and even work on the flow of how you can maximize the travel between each job site…
Most people will not want you to install locks at their house at 9:00pm at night… Wrecker Yards usually have nighttime guards that may allow you access into the early morning hours… and sometimes, you just might have to pick and choose what you do, and even say “NO” to some potential customers.
When I got home last night… (Thursday is family dinner night) Guess who greeted me at the door…?
You got it, Harper Grace! 🥰
OH, PA! PA! she yells… (Talking about melting your heart 💝)
Work stops… Calls are turned down… and at that moment the shift is made from “Hard Worker” to “Grandpa” mode 😍
After walking around outside, watching Bluey on TV, playing with her bouncy ball, and making several laps around the inside of the house, she wanted to watch some of her YouTube videos on her Amazon Fire Pad (we picked up at a yard sale a couple weeks back)
One of her favorites is “Itsy Bitsy Spider” , of course she has many, but she picked this one specifically by request.
Did I mention she has the cutest way of getting her point across? I asked her just to confirm… “Itsy Bitsy Spider?” Her Response… “Okay, okay!”
Of course, I sing along with her as we are watching the video. Several times during the video, she looks at me and grins, as we watch the spider climb up the spout, only to get washed back out by the rain. Then the sun comes out, dries up all the rain… and as we could call it in Affiliate Marketing, “Rinse and Repeat”. Each time the spider seems to get a little further up the spout before the rain washes him back down the spout. He never gives up… He continues with the task at hand…
TILL…THAT ONE MOMENT… WHEN EVERYTHING LINES UP JUST RIGHT…
The spider seems to getting a running start… His determination is grounded now more than ever… All the time which he has spent trying to climb up the spout, which seemed to him like failures at the time, had now become the very trials that conditioned him for success! In the end, he reaches his goal and celebrates with the one he loves.
If he would have “GIVEN UP”… If he would have “ACCEPTED” his attempts as failures and “QUIT TRYING”… He would have “NEVER” reached his Destination…
We can learn a lot from the Itsy Bitsy Spider… 😉 Keep moving forward even if it’s a few minutes a day. Times will change, situations will change, products will change, tactics will change, strategies will change…
DO NOT let your will to succeed change!
Until Next TIME,
David

To be good at ANYTHING…
You must Try!
You must continue Trying!
You must not QUIT!
