Hello again for this weekās Bold Post!
It has been one heck of a week at the Machine Shop. Evidently, after we shut the shop down last Friday, we had a lightning storm come through and struck extremely close to our building. In turn, it ran in on one of our most important machines and fried some on the electrical components.
When we came in Monday morning, the machine wouldnāt boot upā¦ Let me rephrase thatā¦ It would ākindaā boot upā¦ but a very strong burnt electrical smell was coming from the main control cabinet.
After processing the issues, we have replaced 4 Contactors, 3 Main Drive Controllers, a Power Supply, 1 Safety Relay so farā¦ Now the machine has a partial ability to do what it was meant to do, but itās not 100% yet.
Needless to say, the hours associated with fixing the problems were long and I didnāt get to spend a lot of time with Harper this past week. The Locksmith Business has also been neglected due to the issue with my Primary Job being at the Machine Shop.
It seems that when you think you might be getting ahead, things go sideways and throw you back off your game. It can happen in any business, at any time.
Some of the questions you might ask yourself are:
What do I do now?
How am I going to get over this?
How am I going to find the time to do what I need to do?
What will I have to put on hold, to get back to where I need to be?
What I have learned over the yearsā¦ Some things you have control over, and some things you do not. I think we can all agree on this, Right?
DONāT PANIC! YOU GOT THIS!
I do not lose any sleep over what I cannot change, but I may put in some long hard hours working on what I can change. Worrying about what is in the past only leads to delays in changing the future. Learn from the past, but do not dwell in it.
I could not control the lightning strike that took out our machine, but I can control how fast we can get it back up and runningā¦ to a certain degree.
Another thing I can control is the order in which I do thingsā¦ āPrioritiesā
I must focus on MULTIPLE things at one time, ALL THE TIME! I must constantly shift gears and adjust to what is taking place around me whether it is at the Machine Shop, the Locksmith Business, Duties at the House, or elsewhere.
Life is too short to allow Stress, Panic, Worry, and Anxiety to dictate what you do. These are real things, and I also acknowledge that many of us have problems when it comes to these areas.
How do you handle these when they show up?
I focus on my āWHYāā¦ You should tooā¦
I was late coming in Friday night after a long day at the Machine Shop, and then I had a somewhat major issue on a faulty lock on a vehicle I worked on. I knew that Harper was at the house and the longer I spent trying to fix the bad lock, the more frustrated I became about not being able to spend time with Harper. This problem began to snowball as it was taking more time than I figured and put me behind on other vehicles I needed to do for the same customer.
I finished repairing the one lock I was on then I told the customer I would come back in the morning to finish the others. (I made the decision to change the outcome)
Finally, I was headed to the houseā¦
Guess what happened when I got home?
Yep, that little girl (MY āWHYā) lit up like a light bulb when her āPa Paā walked in the door.
All the aggravation that nasty old lock gave meā¦Ā Well, it just disappeared!
Imagine that!
You must make a choice on Priorities in Your Life, Your Business, and whatever else you spend Your Time on. Life is short, donāt waste it on things that DO NOT matter, on things you donāt enjoy, or on things you cannot change. Spend your Time getting closer to your āWHYā ā¦ I do, and what a difference it has madeā¦
