What does it mean to imitate something?
Right off hand you can probably think of some good examples and some bad examples, Right?
Webster has several definitions of “Imitate”
1) to follow as a pattern, model, or example
In most cases, this definition is what we hope to achieve when it comes to building our Business in Affiliate Marketing.
When you have a Coach or Mentor, (like we do through Internet Profits) you strive to follow their example. They train you in the proper steps, order, procedures, and direction so you can be the absolute best you can be.
This is by far the quickest way to achieve Success but only if you are willing to imitate your instructors.
2) to mimic or counterfeit
This definition is the most commonly seen across the internet and most of the time not in a good way. Sometimes people can make misleading claims or lead you to believe something by not telling you the whole truth.
An example of this could be something along the line of:
“I made $500,000 in three days, let
me show you how…”
What they may have failed to mention to you, is that they have been working their business for years and built a rather large following. These may very well be the results they had, but the work to get them to that point may have been a long and hard road.
Make sure you do your research before committing to what may sound good on the surface.
3) to be or appear like
As with the last definition, beware of the “Appear Like”
So many times, we get caught up in things that sound great at first only to find out later it wasn’t that great at all.
Remember the old saying: “If it sounds to goof to be true, it usually is”
4) to produce a copy o
f : reproduce
As with the first definition, this one is the goal of any internet marketer. If you have a Genuine, Honest, Up Front, Legit Mentor (like we have) your goal is to reproduce their results in a similar fashion. They have been through tough times and created a profitable business. They have put in the long hours and hard work to build their business and to make it successful. It makes perfect sense to follow their advice and leadership when it comes to something they have years of experience doing… Right?
Imitate your Mentor but be yourself! Be honest! Later you can put your own unique spin on your products or services.
Until next time,
David
