After doing some studying on Affiliate Marketing, I decided to figure it out on my own. Selling other peoples products is an easy thing to do…LOL Yeah, Right!
Being new to this business, I got bombarded with all these terms and words that I had no clue about…
WordPress – Isn’t something that you use to imprint on a T shirt.
SEO – Isn’t another division of a southern Football Conference.
Domain – Isn’t another name for your Man Cave.
KeyWords – Does not refer to makes of vehicles like Ford, Chevy, and Dodge (Remember, I’m also a Locksmith ðĪŠ)
Hosting – Doesn’t mean that the party is at my house.
Name Servers – Doesn’t refer to the tag that your Waiter or Waitress is wearing.
Funnels – Doesn’t refer to a dessert you get at the fair with powdered sugar on top.
Ok… So, I may have known what a few of the words meant, but definitely not all. I had never done this before, so why would I know what they meant? I studied and studied, looked up meanings of words, which usually led me to other words and terms that I needed to look up. I bought books and googled terms, to see what certain letters stood for.
I searched the internet and Facebook to see what I could find… I was amazed at all the self-made millionaires, that had fancy cars and huge houses, as well as their healthy bank accounts… They showed me their deposits, right there in the video. I saw it with my own eyes, and it was online, so it had to be true…ð
After a while of struggling to get things going on my own, I remembered in that video I saw, it offered a “Free Webinar”. Just sign up, pick a time, listen carefully to the webinar, and after it was over, I would know all I needed to know to run a successful Affiliate Marketing business.
Or would I?
So did you listen to the webinar? And was it too good to be true?
I have to say I have listened to a few and by and large they are informative, but clearly designed to give you a taster and then sell you on the main course!
Tony, I did listen to the Webinar. It was very informative as well… my next post gives the update on what happened (Which may get posted earlier than planned)… But it sounds like you have had the experience of going down that same path before. It’s kind of like the Pictures you see on the wall menu, when you go to place your order at a fast food place… Ever had your burger come out looking like the picture?
Harper Grace is the Best WHY I’ve seen so far. I’m sure she will teach you a lesson in determination and resilience once or twice!
Good luck on your journey. I’m looking forward to seeing you business partner help you shape your business.
Sarah, Thank you for your comments! I couldn’t agree more, Harper makes the PERFECT Business partner! Just by watching her, seeing her attention to detail, seeing through her eyes as she discovers new things is a blessing in itself. I got tickled the other day… She Loves pictures of Deer and can spot them in a heart beat. As I was holding her and walking through the yard, she noticed a small tree branch in the back of one of our friends truck… She pointed and said Deer…Deer… I first I didn’t see what she was seeing, but when I looked closer at the shape of the Branches… They looked just like Deer Antlers… It was TOO CUTE! Here’s to a New Year of Discoveries!!!
There is defiantly an ocean of information out there. I heard a quote from Tony Robins the other day, “There is a ton of knowledge out there but very little wisdom”. This is so true!
That is why it’s important to see out a true mentor that doesn’t just provide knowledge but also provides wisdom.
Follow Dean’s path and you will get to your destination.
CJ
CJ, I totally agree! One proven Mentor, Honest and Wise, is all you need. Very True quote from Tony as well. Looking forward to the Journey in the new year!
I got a chuckle out of the terms and your interpretation of them. I especially like Hosting and funnels. I love a good funnel cake. LOL. I am looking forward to reading your next post as you reveal your answer.
Sherri, Thanks for the comment! I think back when I first started up till now at how we have grown in this brand new adventure… It’s Awesome! We are really excited about this New Year! BTW, I Love a good funnel cake too! ð
Yes, I love the way these people say you can be earning thousands if not millions in no time at all. As we are all discovering on this journey, it’s not a get rich quick scheme. Good luck to you David, I look forward to following your progress. Happy New Year!
Andy, Thank you for the comment, Changing our mindset from “Getting rich quick” to Getting rich forever” is huge isn’t it… We look forward to the new year and the exciting things to come! Best wishes!!
LOL! I love your sense of humor. It’s so funny.
Alan, Thank you for your comment!Life is to short not to have a little fun with it ð
Thats all the why you need. Beautiful.
Thank you Jon, She’s all that I could ask for and so much more! We spent a lot of time together today and I enjoyed every second of it!
Hi David
Great post and welcome to the adventure. I think we are all of a steep learning curve and that’s what makes it satisfying.
I look forward to watching how you progress
Thanks Tim! Your right, when it comes to something new there will always be those areas where we struggle a little. I’m so glad that I came across Dean’s program when I did. Life is so much easier now with help from a Mentor and the Coaches.
I had the same experience.
But found that the more I look for free training, the more distracted I become.
With Internet Profits, I found I have all I need to make progress.
Looking forward to hearing how the webinar went, as this is something I am passionate about. As a general rule, a webinar should inspire not educate, hence you get a bit of information to see what is possible. But to get all the knowledge you are after, there will be a price, and that is where education starts.
Until next time, Tom
Tom, I agree! I had a stack of printed out information on products, programs, tricks and tips when I first got started… I am definitly working on the education part of things now. I’m amazed at how far I have come since the start. Hope we have an AMAZING 2024!
There are so much to learn before we can even wish to get some results. We seek the shortcuts, chasing after ideal solutions that will bring the so call success. I guess we have to be patient, take the time to learn, and follow the proven plan.
Wish you a happy new year!
Martin
HI David!
LOL great post! I love the humor. All too true. Been led there…done that… So much to understand about a very complex system! It’s great you found a place you can finally learn the meaning of all those fancy words! All the best on your journey ð
Sharel, Thanks for your comment! If you can’t have a little fun on your journey, why take the trip ð
Really enjoyed your post, especially the section mentioning what words “do not” mean ð
Look forward to your next post and wish you all the best in 2024!
David, great post. I also tried on my own at the beginning. I am not saying it’s not possible but it’s better to go the mentor way. I look forward to seeing how you go on. All the best. Atif
Affiliate marketing does seem easy on the surface, right? Put out some ads or posts on social media and people will start clicking away. And then you start to learn more and realize how deep it goes. And then at times feeling all alone in your pursuit of it (hence the title Going It Alone). But then having the motivation and the ‘why’ to keep going. I like it. Keep it up!
Derek, Thank you for the comment. When you finally get it in your head that it’s not “Get rich quick” but it is “Get rich forever” Things start to change. Focusing on helping others and not on the shiny tip of the iceberg is the key to moving forward!
